Tom Donaldson Essay Prize
SEMSoc in conjunction with BASEM (British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine) first announced this Essay Prize in 2011.
Tom Donaldson was the founder of the first Sports and Exercise Medicine Society in Manchester. Having graduated as a doctor at the University of Manchester in January 2009, Tom sadly passed away on his elective in New Zealand a month later. An incredibly bubbly and charismatic person, Tom left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was an inspiration to those that helped him start the society and his passion and enthusiasm for sports and exercise medicine was inspirational. It is in his memory that the society continues and that this prize is now run.
