The conference, delivered in conjunction with the University of Bath, celebrating its 50th Anniversary, will also host key sessions by the University and Arthritis Research UK Centre for Sport Exercise and Osteoarthritis.

Professor Carolyn EmeryProfessor Carolyn Emery PT, PhD is the Associate Dean Research in the Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Calgary. A physiotherapist and sport injury epidemiologist, Professor Emery’s research fields include sport injury epidemiology, randomized controlled trials in injury prevention in sport and rehabilitation in paediatrics and sport medicine, focusing primarily on injury prevention in child and adolescent sport and recreation. Carolyn is also an associate professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology and the Departments of Paediatrics and Community Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine. Carolyn holds a Professorship in Paediatric Rehabilitation funded through Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Professor Cyrus CooperProfessor Cyrus Cooper OBE, MA, DM, FRCP, FFPH, is Professor of Rheumatology and Director of the MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Unit; Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton; and Professor of Epidemiology at the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences, University of Oxford. Professor Cooper leads an internationally competitive programme of research into the epidemiology of musculoskeletal disorders, most notably osteoporosis.

Dr John EtheringtonDr John Etherington OBE, MSc, FFSEM, FRCP, RAMC is the Director of Defence Rehabilitation and Consultant in Rheumatology and Rehabilitation at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, Headley Court. Dr Etherington’s work has included early stage rehabilitation of complex trauma patients with operational injuries. Dr Etherington was Vice President of the FSEM and remains on its Council, he is also the Defence Consultant Advisor in Rheumatology & Rehabilitation, Sport and Exercise Medicine, and the Chairman of the Surgeon General's Training & Exercise Medicine Advisory Group.
