Summary : “Athletics meets science” a one off, two day seminar with prominent speakers exploring some of the possible factors that explain Jamaica’s dominance on the track. The event will also feature a photography exhibition highlighting some of the key moments in Jamaica’s athletic history and a free screening of the 2016 documentary of “I am Bolt”.

Description : As the IAAF World Championships in Athletics comes to London this Summer, this track and field spectacle will be bittersweet as one of the greatest sprinters of all time, Usain Bolt, brings his glittering career to an end.

Bolt, like a number of other Jamaican athletes, have experienced a great deal of success – but what are some of the reasons behind why an island with a population of 2.8 million produces world beaters?

“Athletics meets science” a one off, two day event in London will attempt to find out, with prominent speakers exploring some of the possible factors that explain Jamaica’s dominance on the track.

From understanding the environment that these athletes thrive under to discussing dietary considerations and biometric analyses of their performance, this event will take an extensive look on how athletics and science have combined to provide Jamaica with its pursuit of greatness.

“Athletics meets Science” will feature a photographic exhibition, documentary screenings and talks covering the following topics:

1) Sensory and biometric Analyses: Study of Jamaican athletes selected for World Championships 2017
