British Journal of Sports Medicine (BJSM) – The journal publishes original research, reviews and debate relating to clinically-relevant aspects of sport and exercise medicine. There are currently 24 issues produced per annum. Impact factor: 5.025. Members receive a print and/or online access to the journal (dependent on membership category applied for).
BASEM Today – A quarterly magazine produced by BASEM and guest edited by various academic and sport and exercise medicine related organisations. The magazine keeps members up-to-date with BASEM news, SEM articles, BASEM courses and national and international events. Members receive a print and/or online access to the magazine (dependent on membership category applied for).
BASEM Ecircular/Eshots – Members receive a monthly newsletter plus regular Eshots by email that keep them up-to-date with national and international SEM events, current SEM career opportunities and SEM news.
The BMJ Open Sport & Exercise Medicine - A new Open Access journal covering all aspects of sport and exercise medicine from physiology to return to play. It is an online-only journal, free to access for anyone with an internet connection, therefore, there is no subscription or print edition.
The journal aims to publish original articles considered by peer reviewers to be coherent and technically sound, ensuring that the latest research is disseminated rapidly to a global audience.
Corresponding Authors, who are members of BASEM will receive a 25% discount on article publishing charges (APC).
Education and Networking:
BASEM Courses and Conferences - BASEM runs several education courses throughout the year, as well as a Spring Conference and Annual Conference in the autumn, all CPD accredited. As well as providing comprehensive up-to date learning, these events provide an excellent opportunity for you to network with like-minded multi-disciplinary individuals, all in different stages of their SEM career and eager to learn from one another. Members receive reduced delegate fees to attend these courses.
External SEM Courses and Conferences – Members receive member rate fees for courses and conference run by ACPSEM (physios in sport) and reduced delegate fees for courses and conferences endorsed by or negotiated by BASEM.
BASEM Online Education Portal – Members have access to a newly introduced online learning portal that enables individuals to create a unique profile to log individual learning including CPD. Access is available to past and future presentations from some of BASEM’s courses and conferences. The facility to view learning modules and also upload your own learning modules for other members to complete is also available.
OrthoEvidence – Members receive access to OrthoEvidence, a content-based service to associations that provides members with complete summaries and critical appraisals of the best musculoskeletal evidence from around the world. They now have more than 4,200 reports from 13 different specialty areas, all designed with the busy practitioner in mind.
Exclusive Access to the BASEM Website Members’ Area/BASEM Forum:
Members will receive exclusive access to the members’ area with the facility to view online versions of the BJSM and BASEM Today; ability to change personal details and renew membership online; facility to register to the online learning portal and other resources. There is also exclusive access to a newly introduced BASEM forum, where you can communicate with fellow BASEM members.
Members receive the opportunity to nominate for the Sir Roger Bannister Award and apply for the following awards on an annual basis, with a total value in excess of £20k (subject to membership category and length of membership ):-

Full members of BASEM are entitled to voting rights for changes to the constitution of BASEM.
