BASEM ANNUAL CONGRESS 2008 - Brighton, UK

The BASEM Annual Congress will take place from Wednesday 8th to Friday 10th October 2008.

Venue: Old Ship Hotel, 31-38 Kings Road, Brighton, BN1 1NR, UK

Wednesday 8th to Friday 10th October 2008.

The BASEM Annual Congress 2008 will be held on the South East Coast at the Old Ship Hotel, Kings Rd, Brighton, UK.  It is planned to include the following topics in the programme:

Everest Medicine Logistics & Medical Lessons from Everest, Rugby Symposium, Ankle & Wrist Injuries, Dance Injuries, Short Case Presentations, Masterclass "How I assess a player on the pitch", Lessons from Beijing - Countdown to 2012, 5 simultaneous workshops (Bracing workshop with DJO, GE Healthcare Ultrasound workshop, practical guides to the injured golfer,  biomechanics, assessment of injured dancer and a Q&A Everest Expedition Team).

Speakers include Mr Chris Imray, Dr Sundeep Dhillon, Ms Alison Hall, Matt Wyon, Nick Allen, Dr Sharon Dixon, Dr Roger Hawkes, Mr John Aldridge, Mr Steve Turner, Hajo Thermann,  Prof Mark Batt & Dr Simon Kemp.

Additional Free Sessions on Thursday 8th October 2008 - DJO have kindly agreed to sponsor  4 x 1 hour workshop sessions entitled "Ankle joint control & stability - biomechanical testing in the gait lab setting with Prof Jim Richards". Please book your name down at the registration desk for any of the following times 9.30am, 10.30am, 2.30pm, 3.30pm. Numbers are limited to 6 per workshop and will be allocated on a "first come, first served" basis.

Sir Roger Bannister Award 2008- BASEM Executive requires you to nominate a colleague for their outstanding contribution to the field of Sport & Exercise Medicine. BOOKING INFORMATION - Booking will close online at 10pm on Monday 6th October 2008.

After that time, please register and pay at the registration desk at the Old Ship Hotel, Brighton on the day.

Members:

Member registration is applicable to current paid up members of BASEM, BASES, ACPSM. You must include your membership number on the registration form.

Students:

Student registration is applicable to those paid up student members of BASEM currently studying an undergraduate medical degree, physiotherapy undergraduate students and sports science undergraduate students. Students must include University/medical school & year of study when booking.

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations must be received in writing by 20 August 2008 and will be subject to an administrative charge of £25.  No refund is possible after this date.  Substitutions can be accepted at any time, providing full details of the substituted delegate's name and contact details are submitted to the BASEM Office before the event.

Please download the offline booking form & return to BASEM office with your cheque or bankers draft payment. Online booking will be available from Wednesday 4th June 2008.

Delegates who wish to stay at the 4* Old Ship Hotel can do so for a special rate of £120.00 per room per night,  Bed & Breakfast. This can be booked either by telephone on 01273 329001 or emailing to oldship.reservations@barcelo-hotels.co.uk  Please ensure you quote BASEM when booking to receive the special rate.  (As the rate is per room, if 2 delegate wish to share a room, the rate will be significantly reduced). You may find further reduced rates if you book directly with Barcelo online.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS 2008.

The date for accepting abstract submissions has now closed.  Submitting authors will be notified of the panel's decision by 30th June 2008.
