BASEM Executive Position- Chair Of Education Management Group (EMG) - Nominations for November 2010.

A position within the BASEM Executive, as one member of the Executive vacates their position, will be due for election at the Annual General Meeting at the UKSEM 2010 Conference on Thursday 25 November 2010 at ExCel in London.
Nominations are invited for the following executive position on the BASEM Executive Committee and/or to an Office of the British Association of Sport & Exercise Medicine:-
BASEM Chair Of Education Management Group (EMG)
A CV of each candidate is required, not exceeding 250 words, provided by the candidate and to be circulated along with the nomination forms to all Full Members of the Association. A valid nomination is one proposed by a Full Member and seconded by two other members of the Association. All nominators and seconders must be fully paid up members of the Association at the time of nomination.
Each nominee must be a fully paid up Full Member of the Association. If a nominee has not paid current year subscription fees, as a Full Member of the Association, the nomination shall not be counted.
You must be a Full Member of the Association or a nominated representative of a Corporate Member to be eligible to be a member of the Executive Committee.
Nomination Deadline.
A valid nomination is one by a Full Member of the Association, proposed and seconded by two other members of the Association. The nomination form needs to be received by 5pm on Monday 19th July 2010.
Voting Schedule.
Voting papers, containing details of the proposed nominees will be circulated to all Full Members of the Association for voting not less than 28 days before the Annual General Meeting on Thursday 25th November 2010. Therefore, the ballot papers will be circulated to all members on Wednesday 1st September 2010
All votes must be received at the nominated office by 5pm on Monday 18th October 2010, in order to be proposed at the Annual General Meeting on Thursday 25th November 2010.
Roles & Responsibilities of the Position:-
BASEM Chair of Education Management Group (EMG)
To be a Director of the Association
To commit to attending the Executive Committee Meetings (majority of which are held in Central London, but there may be the requirement to attend as part of a BASEM Event, such as Annual Conference).
There are usually 5 meetings per year plus the AGM at the Annual Conference in November.
To take the role of Chairman of the EMG for a period of three years
To act as Chairman at meetings of the BASEM EMG
To invite BASEM members to join the EMG as advisors, as appropriate
To arrange, with the BASEM Education Officer, regular meetings of the EMG
To liaise regularly with the BASEM Office Manager, Central Offfice and other members of the BASEM Executive
To attend BASEM Executive meetings and report the activities of the EMG to the Executive
To attend the BASEM AGM and provide a report of the EMG’s activities for the membership
To Chair and attend meetings of the BASEM Conference Committee and take responsibility for arranging speakers for sessions as required
To appoint a course director for the BASEM Foundation Course and ensure a smooth-running, successful and financially prudent course
To appoint a course director for the BASEM Clinical Skills Course and ensure a smooth-running, successful and financially prudent course
To develop the Educational Programme, in conjunction with the BASEM Education Officer and BASEM Office Manager
To organise other education meetings in the year as required.
To be readily available and respond quickly to all matters pertaining to the EMG and BASEM Education in general
To liaise with other Sports bodies in relation to education matters.
To sit on the Faculty of SEM SAC when the BASEM chairman is unable to attend (liaise with Chairman)
To undertake, within reason, any other duty deemed appropriate by the BASEM Executive
To report to the Executive Committee on any developments or changes required to maintain the statutory requirements of the Association.
To ensure BASEM meets the requirements of its Memorandum and Articles of Association.
To administrate on matters pertaining to the Annual General Meeting of the Association each year.
To liaise with the BASEM Office Manager and Education Officer on a regular basis and to respond quickly to matters pertaining to the Association and its members.
To network with members/lecturers/exhibitors at BASEM events, promoting the Association and its work.
To raise the profile of BASEM at relevant meetings and exhibitions.
To undertake, within reason, any other duty deemed appropriate by the BASEM Executive.
Please note: Each member of the BASEM Executive Committee does not receive remuneration, but will receive reimbursement of reasonable expenses for attending Executive Committee Meetings, Annual Conference and other related meetings when representing BASEM.
